While all flood sensors can help prevent water damage, the Ecolink Flood/Freeze Sensor is one of the few that sends alerts when the temperature reaches 41F or lower - the danger zone for freezing and bursting pipes. Just connect the sensor to your Z-Wave hub to set up text/email notifications about the device’s activity all winter long. Create custom rules for the sensor with your hub’s app interface: trigger a Z-Wave siren when water is detected unexpectedly. Pair the sensor with a Z-Wave valve controller to shut off the water main automatically.
The device comes with a 36” external probe, giving you easy access to those pesky areas prone to leaks. It’s easy to mount in a wide variety of spaces and configurations, and it comes with all the hardware you need to mount the sensor and probe. Don’t worry about having to access the device too often; you can expect the sensor’s battery to last up to 5 years with average use. It also features Z-Wave Plus for longer range and a 2-year warranty period that keeps you protected.
It’s best to include the sensor from the location you plan on installing it so your Z-Wave hub can find the best communication route to the device. Put your Z-Wave hub into inclusion mode (see your hub’s manual, as each brand is different) and insert the battery into the sensor, making sure the battery is oriented correctly. Once the device is successfully included, it will appear on your hub’s device list.
Once you’ve confirmed that device is included to your network, mount the sensor to a flat, dry surface using either the included screws or adhesive tape. It’s important to mount the sensor in a place that will remain dry even in a water leak scenario. Next, mount the probe to a flat, dry surface that is most likely to be exposed to water if a leak occurs.
NOTE: If you don't see your Z-Wave controller on the list above, please contact us before you purchase this product.

It caught a leaky gasket on my boiler before it rotted all the way out a flooded my basement.
I have 2 ecolink sensors and 6 dome sensors. The domes have been very reliable. The ecolinks show a leak about 2x a year, a false alarm. Its driving me nuts because i know one day i will think its just a false alarm and reopen the main iso valve and contine flooding my house. I work away from home, so thats why i rely on these so much. They do always trip when wetted to test.
I needed this so that I can lower the probe into my sump pit to tell me if the sump pump failed. The extra freeze sensor is a nice touch, since frozen discharge pipes can also lead to sump pump failure. Installation was a breeze, and Home Assistant/zwavejs recognized it instantly.
This is basically the Ecolink door/window sensor with an extension cable, since that sensor has a pair of terminals inside. Great if you like to standardize on a specific brand like I do and keep replacement battery types to a minimum. If you already have a few door/window sensors, you'll find the brown case fits this. It's a no fuss setup in SmartThings and responds quickly.
Installed one of these in the family camp. Always have had concern about water leakage when the camp is not occupied. Easily setup and connected with my Smartthings hub. Only installed one to begin with but will add more after initial trial period. Seems to be very well made and provides multiple methods for attaching the device. So far it has been a positive experience.
