Before wiring the Double Relay in, check that the load does not exceed 500W for incandescent lights, 150W for LED's, 1/4 hp for fans and motors, or 5A for resistive load per relay. Examine all connections to verify that you have all the necessary wires available in the switch box: load (most often black), line (most often black), neutral (most often white), and ground (most often green).
If you are not comfortable identifying the wiring and following the instructions, please hire a licensed electrician.
Here are some helpful wiring tips:
How to include the Double Relay to your smart home network?
1. Put your Z-Wave controller in inclusion/pairing mode
2. Click the Z-Wave button on the relay 3 times quickly to finalize the inclusion process (and scan the SmartStart security QR code or enter PIN if prompted)
3. Two new on/off switches and a master device should appear on your controller's device list
The stuff is ETL certified and supports z-wave for ease of integration. If you run your own automation system, i.e. homeassistant, etc., this is a solid choice, with good pricing.
Great for use with smart ceiling fan. I had two existing, manual rocker switches in a two gang box that controlled separate power to the fan and light. The ceiling fan/light combo is a smart fan/light that can be controlled over a mobile app, bluetooth remote and Home Assistant (Modern Forms integration). I utilized the Double Relay to control the fan and light separately (power to light is not used), and configured the Double Relay (Relay 1 and Relay 2) to Smart switch mode (local control disabled). I created an automation in Home Assistant to trigger based on scenes z_wave_js_value_notification and toggle either Relay 1 or Relay 2. Works perfectly. Now the rocker switches and remotes can control the operation of the fan and light.
Had two additional lights hooked up to the relay behind the wall, and programmed the normal zooz light switches to also control the relay with different button press configurations. Easily gave me a way to expand the capability of existing light switches without needing to add actual switches on the wall!
Replaced some ten-year-old double relays with these. smart start in home assistant seems to have come into its own, as is inclusion from anywhere on the network. No more hooking up a special power cable so I could do the initial setup next to the controller. I like that this relay presents only the two entities, one for each relay -- no 3rd "master".
I just installed a Zooz 700 Series Z-Wave Long Range Double Relay ZEN52 LR unit in my shop behind two standard light switches. The installation and connections to my vast SmartThings network was quick and easy. I use a Motion signal from a Smart Camera and a Door Switch to ensure the right light combination is active when I go into or am working in my shop.
