Here are some helpful installation tips:
How to include the 800 Series Dimmer switch to your smart home network?
1. Bring your Z-Wave gateway hub or controller as close to the switch as possible
2. Put your Z-Wave controller in inclusion mode
3. Tap the UPPER paddle of the switch 3 times very quickly to finalize the inclusion process
4. A new dimmer (or multilevel switch) device will appear on your controller's device list
NOTE: Use a dedicated diagram from the manual to wire the switch in a 3-way setting with a regular electrical switch if you are looking to control one light with 2 switches. This switch may wire differently in 3-way or 4-way installation than your other Zooz switch.
The dimmer works great. I have a a bunch in use and they are working great locally and for use with Home Assistant.
Zooz hardware is pretty good quality, the switches are easy to install. The only thing I was they did different was if they used square/Robertson head screws instead of Philips. These are much more common with other electrical device manufacturers and so that is typically the bit I have in my screw gun and screw driver. Also easier to torque correctly without stripping the screw head.
The switches are also very configurable.
I've installed several of these around the house, and they work great. I really like the nightlight mode, and that you can set it to whatever level you want. The dimming is excellent with my LED bulbs, and it's nice that you can tweak the settings to be just what you want (ramp up speed, minimum level, etc.). I've also used these successfully in a few three-way circuits, but the wiring is a little easier to do with the ZEN77s.
I'm using ZEN72 dimmers (and some ZEN71 switches) along with Home Assistant to replace my aging Control4 system, and so far I'm quite pleased. These do everything I need them to do, and they get better with every firmware update. Virtual 3-way using association groups works perfectly as a replacement for Control4's button linking feature. And to top it all off, Zooz support has been stellar as well. I couldn't be happier.
Z-Wave has worked great for me and this Zooz dimmer has been flawless. Easy to install and very responsive. Also, Zooz has amazing customer service and has gone above and beyond to help me.
I switched from Lutron Caseta to Zooz, and so far I am very happy that I switched. I prefer the paddle switch look, and being able to use scene control events in Home Assistant automations has been a game changer. Installation was very straightforward and LED compatibility also seems to be about the same. I was slightly nervous about my Z-Wave network's stability, but these devices work better than a lot of my older Z-Wave tech, so I haven't had any issues.
I would highly recommend!
