I have not received the equipment, still waiting.
After 14 months of use my Hubitat C7 hub died. I am just now realizing this thing only has a 90 day warranty! Candidly the C7 has been problematic from the beginning and I should have realized it was always just limping along. Just like other reviews that I've seen on the Internet, this hub starts locking up every so often and then it gets more frequent until it hits the point where it never comes back. In my case, I've tried everything including the diagnostic page and it will not stay on the network long enough to factory reset it. This will be my first and last Hubitat hub and would strongly encourage others to look elsewhere for a Zwave hub.
I have had this hub for 8 1/2 months, coming from a Vera hub during the previous 8 years. The Hubitat was more advanced, paired easily with a large variety of devices, and overall worked well. That is up to a month ago, when it began going offline every 2-3 days. Sometimes a reboot of the router would do it and other times a reboot of the controller was required. The hub has a static IP address. There is a robust community of individuals to help, but absolutely no customer support is available from the Hubitat company. I searched and finally found a phone # with a recording requesting you to go to their website, or send an email to [****]. I sent an email requesting help, and immediately received a response stating that email was not monitored. Also, there is only a 90 day warranty. Based on my experience I wouldn't purchase another Hubitat product.
Unless you understand what you're doing, the overall experience might be complex (compared to SmartThings, for example).
Local execution is the reason I purchased it.
An ideal hub for folks who like to DIY and aren't afraid of a little googling to find solutions for how best to accomplish a particular automation or use a particular product with the hub. I've found the interface somewhat challenging to use but as a programmer I really appreciate the transparency and exposure of so much power directly to the end user. All in all, really happy with my choice to go this route as primary hub for my smart home.
