How to add the Wall Remote to your Z-Wave home hub?
1. Make sure the device is within range of your Z-Wave network
2. Put your Z-Wave hub in inclusion/pairing mode
3. Tap the top button of the Remote Switch 6 times quickly to finalize the inclusion process (or scan the QR code / enter the 4-digit DSK number printed on the back of the remote if using the new SmartStart method)
4. A new remote control / button controller device will appear on your hub's device list
Overall, I recommend this for anyone looking for a responsive remote control for your Z-wave network. It set up quickly using Home Assistant. I scanned the QR code and it showed up almost immediately. I use it as a remote but it has all the parts to mount on the wall if you want it to look like a light switch. It uses a magnet embedded in the remote (it is what holds it to the wall mount); I use it to stick the remote the base of my lamp, so handy! The buttons are easy to push and after a month of use, it has never missed a signal. My only suggested change would be to improve the ‘feel’ of the larger buttons. As you press them, they feel a bit mushy and less precise than the smaller buttons. Not a deal breaker, and does not affect the functioning of the device. More related to the physical aesthetic of using it.
I use SmartThings, and found this controller to be easy to add and to set up.
The on-wall plate protrudes a bit more than a normal switch would, but the in-box mounting plate looks pretty seamless. Love it, and it was inexpensive. I like the idea that it is rechargeable, but haven't needed to yet. I suspect the battery lasts a very long time.
Rock solid performance! The button press feel could be a little better but as long as it holds up and the battery lasts I highly recommend this product. Connected easily to Hubitat and has never failed a press command. Magnet is strong enough to hold against the mount or a metal door and the mount looks great and can even be replaced with a different face plate.
Zooz 800 Series Z-Wave Long Range Wall Remote ZEN37 800LR (Battery Powered)
I installed very quickly and paired it with SmartThings and programmed it to manage an RF controlled fan/light system that is WiFi enabled; the top button toggles the lights on/off. I also programmed another function for locking everything at night when we do not remember if we did it. Pretty smooth overall.
