NOTE: If you don't see your Z-Wave controller on the list above, please ask the manufacturer of your Z-Wave hub about support for the ZEN55 before you purchase this product.

        INSTALLATION

Check your wiring first to confirm that you have all the following wires present in your electrical box: power, neutral, and the connection to the detector.

If you are not comfortable identifying the wiring and following the instructions, please hire a licensed electrician.

Here is an example diagram showing how to wire the ZEN55 to a smoke detector:

        INSTALLATION TIPS

        • Use with any standard interconnect smoke and/or CO alarms.
        • Always turn off the power at the breaker before handling the wiring, this is a 120 V high-voltage installation.
        • The last detector in series will be the one that only has 3 wires coming into the box (vs 5 or more in other boxes). This is where you'll have the most space to install your smart device at. (NOTE: it can be installed in any box in the series; the last is recommended only because of space.)
        • When adding the ZEN55 relay to your hub, you may need to scan the QR code or enter the PIN code located on the back of the relay (if your system supports SmartStart). Read more about adding the device to your hub here.
        • Test the detector's alarm (follow the instructions for your unit) to see if the status of the device changes in your hub's interface once the alarm goes off. Remember to warn your family members or roommates when testing this!
        • Always turn the power off when securing the module and the detector back in the electrical box.
        • You'll need to create an automation in your hub for a notification to be sent to your phone or email once the status on the ZEN55 changes so you can immediately know if the alarm is triggered.

        Why wouldn't everyone buy this?!!

I installed this today. For what this costs, it's a great deal. I have hard-wired, interconnected smoke and carbon monoxide detectors (some just smoke, some both). Turn off power, Cap 2 relays with small wire nuts (unless you are going to have a light and/or alarm added to this), then hook up the 3 wires with your existing. That's it. Then include on your zwave hub.

I added routines to my smartthings hub to announce on my sonos devices "fire fire fire" (ok that didn't work), send each member of the family a text (that worked) and to turn all the lights on in the house if smoke detected (that worked!).

This could save a life. Do it.

Instructions on these devices for inclusion on smartthings (v3 hub) doesn't always seem exactly right to me (I've installed 25 or so zooz light switches). This one said to "click the z-wave button 4-5 times quickly to add". That did nothing. So, I tried hitting it 3 times quickly, which was what it said when trying to exclude. That worked and the lights began blinking more rapidly, which means it worked.

        Great for smoke alarm notification

This is a great device if you have an A/C powered (wired in) smoke/ CO detector, particularly if it isn’t connected to other detectors. Used under Homeassistant and z-wave js. Paired flawlessly using smartstart. Much easier to pair compared to battery z-wave smoke / CO detectors. I use it to turn lights on to wake me up.

        Excellent! Super easy to install!

Installed in one of my smoke detector boxes, was super simple to hook up with wago connectors (wrapped with electrical tape afterward!), and fit right up in there. Connected easily, and quickly updated the status in my Hubitat when I pressed the Test button on any of my linked smoke detectors in the house.

        Easy Install

Very easy to install to a wired smoke detector circuit! Gives an additional piece of mind for alert notifications via Home Assistant!

        Works as it should

It was easy to setup, work right out of the box in home assistant with zwave js UI, for both CO and smoke detection
