ZEN17 Frequently Asked Questions
NOTE: If you don't see your Z-Wave controller on the list above, please contact us before you purchase this product.
Follow the appropriate diagram to wire the Universal Relay according to your application. If you don't see a diagram describing your set-up, please contact us to request help with the installation. Remember to always turn power off at the breaker before handling the wires. Never apply any voltage to the Sw input terminals!
Once you've completed the wiring, power the Universal Relay up with a USB C and a standard power adapter (sold separately) or a direct connection to 12 / 24 V power source.
Now add the Universal Relay to your hub: initiate inclusion (pairing mode) and click the Z-Wave button on the device 3 times quickly. The LED indicator will blink to indicate communication and stay on for 2 seconds to confirm inclusion.
You’ll most likely see 3 new on/off devices in your app:
2 channels for on/off control of each relay
1 master node to control all relays at the same time and to access and adjust advanced settings in (if your hub supports parameter input)
Overall Opinion: The Zen 17 is a well designed product that has made my life a little bit more convenient.
The Setup: The relay is sitting atop and wired into my old LiftMaster Garage Door Opener. A travel surge protector with usb outlets is providing power to the unit through the USB-C port. The ZOOZ Wireless Tilt/Shock Sensor is adhered to the door. I added both easily to the Hubitat Smart Hub. The ZOOZ Garage Door App made setting them up relatively easily.
Result: I now can open and close the door with the old switch on the wall, Hubitat as well as Alexa. The smart hub notifies me of movement as well as a door left open.
Helpful Hint: Do not forget to set up a low battery alert for the Tilt Sensor to make your life a bit easier later.
Thank you ZOOZ.
Easy to install, and can now control my garage door with my smartphone or any other device that supports a web browser
Great device, fully programable, capable of handling any automation project.
I purchased this to control 2 garage doors with 2 magnetic reed sensors, after tinkering with this for a bit, I reached out to support who was able to point me in the right direction to get this working!
There was a bug regarding Home Assistant not saving Parameters 10& 11, but you can manually set it until it has been fixed.
The product has been great after getting the correct settings in Home Assistant!
I'm using my ZEN17 to automate my air compressor air supply line. I have it connected to a motorized ball valve (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WDPZ26M?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1). I really like that the ZEN17 has relay outputs and sensor inputs that read the valve posistion which works perfect for my project. I have it connected to Hubitat hub which makes it very easy to set up and versatile.
