Before installing, make sure the load does not exceed 960W for incandescent lights, 150W for CFL's and LED's, or 1800W (15A) for resistive load. Check your wiring first to confirm that you have all the following wires present in your gang box: load (most often black), line (most often black), neutral (most often white), and ground (most often green).
If you are not comfortable identifying the wiring and following the instructions, please hire a licensed electrician.
Here are some helpful wiring tips:
How to include the Scene Controller switch to your smart home network?
1. Bring your Z-Wave gateway hub or controller as close to the switch as possible
2. Put your Z-Wave controller in inclusion/pairing mode
3. Tap the upper paddle of the switch 3 times quickly to finalize the inclusion process
4. A new on/off switch should appear on your controller's device list
NOTE: Use a dedicated diagram from the manual to wire the switch in a 3-way setting with a regular electrical switch if you are looking to control one light with 2 or 3 switches.
Very handy. Solves an issue for guests not knowing how to shut off lights that have no switch (only Echo or Smartthings App). There are two things that could have made thus a 5 star review.
1. Since this was the new version of the scene controller, no personalized button etching was available when I ordered.
2. LED's do only reflect on/off when the scene controller buttons are used. So if the App is used or an actual smart switch that directly controls then the LED's get out of wack. Work around I have come up with is to make the 4 scene buttons a different color and leave them always ON. Printed instructions near the switch will direct guests to what is what. Not perfect, but.....
Thank you for your feedback! Regarding the LED indicators, they will just alternate from on to off whenever you press the button so if you want to control the LED and keep it in sync with the device the button on the ZEN32 is controlling, you can program to control the LED in a separate rule or automation. That means that the LED indicators can be controlled as regular devices and used for notifications, completely separate of the buttons (as long as the functionality is supported on your Z-Wave hub).
The LED indicators on the buttons can be independently controlled in automations by changing the parameters / settings for the buttons on demand to a selected brightness level and colors in case you wanted to use them to check the status of your scenes or devices. For example 'if the bedroom light is on, set parameter 5 to value 3 and parameter 10 to value 1' (which translates into: turn the button 4 LED indicator on to blue color).
Found these since they are a close match for my existing Lutron switches. Works great in HomeAssistant!
I have 3 groups of outside lights serving a deck, and the builder thoughfully wired them in pairs to three seperate switches located in three different rooms! I replaced the switches with the ZEN71 800LR and use the ZEN32 800LR controller, in conjunction with Hubitat, to provide both indepenent and also centralized group switching and dimming of all the lights. Plus I provide control of specific configurations of my yard landscape lighting from the same place. It is a great way to provide sophisticated functionality to my non-tech savy family, though a control they easily understand.
Worked great out of the box with my Home Assistant running Z-Wave JS.
This was so many scenes available which is really nice. I like the adjustable LED color lights, but don't notice a huge discernible difference in the brightness changes. The warranty length is good peace of mind.
