Check your wiring first to confirm that you have all the following wires present in your gang box: load (most often black), line (most often black), neutral (most often white), and ground (most often green).
If you are not comfortable identifying the wiring and following the instructions, please hire a licensed electrician.
Here are some helpful wiring tips:
How to include the Zooz On / Off switch to your smart home network?
1. Bring your Z-Wave gateway hub or controller as close to the switch as possible
2. Put your Z-Wave controller in inclusion/pairing mode
3. Tap the upper paddle of the switch 3 times quickly to finalize the inclusion process
4. A new on/off switch should appear on your controller's device list
NOTE: Use a dedicated diagram from the manual to wire the switch in a 3-way setting with a regular electrical switch if you are looking to control one light with 2 or 3 switches.
Easy to pair with Home Assistant. Works great with smart bulbs. You have to enable Parameter 9 if you disable the relay to make sure scene commands are sent. After that - easy peasy.
The Zen71 switches worked great and were adopted easily into the network. They are very responsive when toggles in the HomeAssistant and HomeKit apps. Overall build quality is great as well. I would definitely buy more as I start adding more automations.
The switch overall is pretty nice. The responsiveness is great. The installation was super simple and felt robust. The only issue I have with these switches is the feel of the actual switch. Having some other brands the actuation and the solidness of the switch itself could have a better feel, but these are about half the cost of some other brands. All said it’s a nice reliable switch at a good price point. Will continue to purchase Zooz brand.
This new 800 series switch is nice and fast. It does feel a little faster to respond than the 700 series switches I have. I still have a 700 series controller so I expect when I upgrade that at some point my network will be even better.
I started buying Zooz products from the Smartest House earlier in the year and have become a regular user of these switches and relays. I now have them on two different houses that I manage, so that it is easy to keep track of lights and locks, and time them for that lived in look when no one is around.
I recently bought the Z-box hub which I really like for ease of connecting devices, I had also tried the Hubitat hub which seemed to be more of a problem connecting and decided the Z-box hub was much simpler solution.
I also have bought several of the dry contact relays and these are one of the most useful devices if you a somewhat electrically savvy. I have installed them inside several electrical boxes so that I could leave the existing switches and also I have them on irrigation timers to control on and off cycles of sprinklers.
I am still expanding my repertoire of uses and the many options in the Zooz devices.
